World Hoop Day 2011 in Atlanta

WORLD HOOP DAY is 11/11/2011

I encourage you to seek more information via their website, http://www.worldhoopday.com/ This is a not for profit organization who has worked to donate adult sized hoops to children all over the globe as a tool to “bring joy to an otherwise devastating situation”. Hoopers all over the globe unite and celebrate, host fundraisers and share the love of hooping on this day. We in Atlanta will congregate at a TBD location to celebrate together. Learn the World Hoop Day dance with me! We will practice this dance on our own and when we come together on 11/11/11 we will dance as one! I am so excited about this! Here is part one of the choreography

Bodies as a Work of Art

Check out this slideshow from the fundraiser this past August to benefit The Chelko Foundation at Tongue and Groove Atlanta. Bodies as a Work of Art was an amazing show! I (Rebecca DeShon) performed an LED hoop dance to entertain our guests before the art contest began. Such an amazing gift to be a part of such a gorgeous event.

Southern Fried Sideshow Presents….

Saturday, September 3 at 7:00pm – September 4 at 1:00am

The Five Spot

1123 Euclid Ave.

“An evening of intrigue! The Five Spot hosts this outrageous line-up of talent, comedy, music and more!
Atlanta’s very own Captain & Maybelle take the stage, fresh from their appearance on national television, and are ready to deliver incredible human feats, mind-boggling humor, and unbelievably impressive stunts!

Introducing Southern Fried Sideshow’s host for the evening, Professor Theodore Rose! He knows how to keep the show rolling along. He will also have on hand his soon-to-be world-famous “Silver Tongue Snake Oil”!

Once again, our favorite Moldavian friend, Zolophd, graces us with his presence! But wait… He’s bringing along partner-in-crime Molotov! What they have planned is sure to tickle all your senses!

Coming to shake things up a bit is the always lovely Ms. Rebecca DeShon, of HoopEssence. She’ll be hooping her heart out and working her way into yours!

Captain has traveled the world over in search of one of God’s most beautiful creations…and he found “The Black Mantis” in the jungles of South America. Is he man? Is he insect? That will be for you to decide…

Sinder & Incendia will turn the evening up a few degrees when they perform. Their passion lies in an element long feared by man… FIRE! Watch in awe as this duo shows no fear and manipulates the flames, all for your enjoyment!

Our band for the evening is none other than Mile Train! Mile Train’s sound cannot be easily described. Based on Delta blues, jazz and Southern rock, the band has forged a recognizably eclectic musical phenomenon. Whether it’s the chop-heavy, bass-thumping tones of “Blackwater Blues” and “Singin’ Out Loud,” the delicate harmonies of “Lifted” and “Sugarcane,” or the high octane fueled riffage of “Tie One On” and “Brothers and Sisters,” Mile Train has successfully soldered several sounds into a unique blend of rock’n’roll.

Now that’s an INCREDIBLE line-up for an evening’s entertainment! If you’ve been meaning to catch a show, THIS is the one to come to! You’ll laugh, you’ll gasp, and we guarantee that you will leave ASTONISHED and in DISBELIEF! Doors at 7PM, $10. All ages.

Hoopy Love

Hey hoopers, lovers, family & friends. I am back from my little getaway in Florida and it was spectacular! I had such a nice relaxing time, slept wonderfully, played on the beach everyday with the love of my life, hooped under a brilliantly bright full moon, swam in the most turquoise waters ever, amazing shell hunting, great food, sunset walks, bike rides and more. Ahhhhhh Thanks to my darling love Matt Gilbert for taking me on such a great vacation. Do you know he is responsible for building this website with me? He is pretty incredible, I have to say!

Classes are on as usual tomorrow 11am at Pera Dance Studio & 1pm at Ladies Workout Express. Come drop in if you would like! I will have some extra hoops in tow in case anyone would like to purchase one for their very own. They make amazing gifts, Mother’s Day is just around the corner!

There is much on the horizon that I am tickled pink about. Life is difficult at times but I try to see the good in everything. Tomorrow evening I will raffle off one of my hand crafted hoops at the Art League Atlanta show, It’s Not Lupus, Lupus Show to benefit American Lupus Federation and show support for a very sweet friend who struggles with the disease. Check it out! Next Saturday, April 30th I will be performing at the Art League Atlanta Season 2 Finals at The Shelter Atlanta. Come out for an amazing night of art, chill music and great people…AND HOOPING!

Check out this great photo from beach escape earlier this week
