Free Hoop Jam!

Come play with us in the Downtown Decatur Square! The end of Summer is here and we are ready for some outdoor FUN. I don’t know about you but the cooler temps and breezy early morning air has me thinking about Fall. While I welcome a break from the humidity any chance I can get, I know time will fly by quickly and land right smack into Winter. Let’s get outside and play while we can enjoy the weather.

Bring a friend, your family – all ages and everyone is welcome. This is a free event. Come learn to hula hoop by playing with others. Bring any hoops you would like to share, I will provide a few hoops for use and we will hula hoop, dance, play and join in community. Can’t wait to see you! Come make new friends and learn to hoop dance. We welcome everyone to join the fun! Get a good workout while you smile and giggle, you won’t even notice the time.

Wednesday Aug 29, 2012 6-8pm

Wednesday Sept 12, 2012 6-8pm

Wednesday Sept 26, 2012 6-8pm

We will gather in the center of the square either by the gazebo around the law or at the top on the concrete by the “misting” sculpture. Call me if you have any questions! 404-431-8876 **These events will be cancelled in the event of severe weather in Downtown Decatur.

Free Hoop Jam

Free community indoor hoop jam at Kinetic Hive~

This is a learn by play event, not a formal class. Bring your hoop or borrow one, just show up with a smile! Everyone is welcome. Come out and spin with us.
We will also take this time to speak about more indoor hoop classes and jams at Kinetic Hive. I look forward to seeing you!

**IMPORTANT*** If you have never been to Kinetic Hive, please allow yourself at least 15 minutes extra time to find parking and find your way to the entrance. This is in a loft building in the back and not the easiest place to find on your first try. Know where you are going before heading out. Need help?? Contact me BEFORE the event and I can help you on your way.

Kinetic Hive is located in the Cotton Dock Lofts at Sampson St & John Wesley Dobbs (close to Mint Gallery). You may park in any of the spaces allotted on JWD or Sampson street. Look for the small painted signs that say Kinetic Hive (also the larger signed marked tube, you may park in this lot). We will be in Unit R around the back side of the building. Look for the green stairs & the chinese lanterns above the door. Unit R. Please be respectful of the neighbors and the space! We are very lucky to be able to use this space, let’s treat it with kindness.

HOOP JAM 10/17

***Save the date***

Atlanta Streets Alive!

Sunday, October 17

Hoop Jam with HoopEssence from 2pm-4pm in Woodruff Park

Hoops will be provided!!! Bring your own if you wish & a beverage to keep hydrated.

Have you seen this amazing event called Atlanta Streets Alive? Here is some info from their website about the event.

“Imagine a street full of people of all ages and backgrounds, walking, biking, creating and laughing, together. A street temporarily closed to cars, but open to people. Imagine residents safely enjoying their city, socializing with neighbors, and engaging in healthy activities. Imagine if all of this were free, with absolutely no barriers to participation. By the people, for the people. Sound good yet?

ASA takes a valuable public space – our city’s streets – and opens them up for people to play, walk, bike, breathe, and make their own.

Modeled on tremendously successful events from around the world, including Bogotá, Colombia’s Ciclovia; Paris, France’s Paris Plage; and San Francisco’s Sunday’s Streets, ASA is part bike tour, part block party, and a great time for getting active, supporting local businesses along the route, people watching, and enjoying our amazing city! Building on the success of the May event, the next Atlanta Streets Alive is planned for Sunday, October 17 from 1-6PM. ”  – Atlanta Streets Alive

Check out the video from the last event!

I attended the first event and we had a blast hooping in the park. I have been asked by the event manager to host a FREE HOOP JAM!!! I am really excited to facilitate hooping and share the joy with all of Atlanta. I will be hosting the hoop jam in Woodruff Park from 2pm-4pm on Sunday Oct 17th. Please join me! I hope to see all of my students there along with the curious, new friends and faces. I will have a limited quantity of hoops to share , feel free to bring your own if you have any. This is a fun event for all ages to enjoy. Come play in the sunshine and take a break from your long commute, computers, televisions, videos and everyday stress of life! Sometimes we are so caught up in the daily hustle that we forget the simple moments in life, the wind blowing through the trees, flowers blooming, sun shine …..I found this excellent article from one of my favorite daily websites,, on just that. It is full of inpsiration to nurture your body and mind. The article really rings true to my life, especially lately with my schedule being so incredibly full!

Feel free to contact me for further info. Hope to see you there!

Ralph Roddenbery Band @ Matilda’s 9/24

Hey there kiddos! I hope you are doing well and settling into your Fall schedules with ease. I have so much fun to share with you in the coming weeks! So ecstatic for all the fun hooping adventures ahead. I love my life and am so blessed to spend the majority of my time in the hoop.

I have been asked to be a guest at the Ralph Roddenbery Band show at Matilda’s in Alpharetta! This is very exciting for me ♥ I have known Ralph and the crew for many years, so excited for all of their success. Not only fabulous musicians but incredible people with hearts of gold! You will absolutely adore the tunes as they fill your heart with LOVE and feed your head with their witty lyrics and rhymes. This is a beautiful outdoor venue and its BYOB! So pack the dog, a blanket, some chairs, a picnic and beverages of your choice to enjoy under the pines. Dog & kid friendly too! I will be performing hooping as well as providing hoops for the audience to try and join in on the fun. A small collection of my hand crafted hoops will be available to adopt for your very own if you feel so inclined. Hooping to live music is extraordinary! We will have an amazing time. If you haven’t heard the Ralph Roddenbery band please check them out You really don’t wanna miss this! What kind of music do they play you may ask? “a dynamic blend of Americana, roots rock, and a twist of the blues” – in other words FUN!
